An ongoing worldbuilding project exploring planetary infrastructure, climate adaptation and imagined futures.
Set on a future Earth transformed by environmental collapse, SkySea imagines a civilisation rebuilt not by leaving the planet behind, but by engineering it on an unprecedented scale. Suspended atmospheric oceans, elevated cities and continent-spanning energy networks become the foundations of a society where survival depends on the continuous maintenance of an artificial world.
Rather than presenting a single narrative, SkySea develops through interconnected stories, environments, diagrams, artefacts and speculative research. Individual works explore different moments in the world’s history, from the first emergency sea-lifts to the emergence of vertical societies living within the atmospheric reservoirs themselves.
The project examines the relationship between technology and dependency, asking what happens when humanity becomes permanently responsible for holding up the world it has created.
Current outputs are focused on developing the setting’s physical rules, infrastructure, geography and long-term history as the foundation for future writing, visual work and installation.
