The Assembly is the working environment through which The Constant State is developed.

Part studio, part workshop and part experimental laboratory, it is where paintings, sculptures, writing, digital media and spatial installations are brought together into a single evolving practice. It exists not as a place of presentation, but of continual construction.

Every project begins here.

Ideas are tested through making. Objects become environments. Drawings become prototypes. Relationships emerge between projects as they develop, gradually expanding The Constant State through physical and digital forms.

Documentation is as important as production. Sketches, models, photographs and research become part of the archive, allowing the evolution of each project to remain visible rather than disappearing behind finished work.

The Assembly is also the testing ground for Atlas, where projects, research, collaborators and ideas are connected as an evolving knowledge system. In time, it will become one of the environments within The Observatory, carrying its own history of experimentation into the wider public framework.

The Assembly is not simply where work is made.

It is where the practice continually reconstructs itself.
