Atlas is the knowledge infrastructure behind my practice.

Originally developed to support The Constant State, Atlas explores an alternative approach to organising knowledge, one where meaning emerges through relationships rather than predefined categories, folders or taxonomies. Instead of asking people to design systems before they begin, Atlas allows structure to evolve naturally as ideas, places, people and projects become connected.

Everything begins as a Thing.

A work. A place. A person. An object. An exhibition. A fragment of research.

Individually these Things have limited meaning. As relationships accumulate, larger patterns begin to emerge, revealing narratives, structures and unexpected connections that would otherwise remain hidden.

Although born from the needs of an interdisciplinary artistic practice, Atlas is being developed as an open project for anyone working with complex, connected knowledge, including artists, museums, researchers, writers, architects and cultural organisations.

Atlas is both a practical tool and an artistic proposition. It underpins The Constant State, documents The Assembly, supports The Observatory, and provides the connective tissue through which projects continue to evolve. Rather than replacing human thinking with automation, Atlas is designed to make relationships visible, allowing understanding to emerge through exploration rather than prescription.
